Constella capsule. Constella is the trade name for Linaclotide, a drug approved for treating abdominal pain in irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) with constipation. Linaclotide is a peptide which is not absorbed into the bloodstream but acts locally, binding to guanylate cyclase C receptors found in the walls of the intestine. This results in a reduction abdominal pain, and an increase in the amount of fluid in the intestine, which softens the stools and facilitates their movement through the bowel.
