American social reformer Ellen Gates Starr (1859-1940) founded Hull House in Chicago in 1889 with Jane Addams. Hull House was a settlement house that helped new and poor immigrants through a variety of social, educational, and artistic programs. Photograph circa 1915 to 1917.
