Culver Cliff. View of Culver Cliff, Isle of Wight, England. The exposed junction between Lower Greensand (top, light brown) and Wealden (bottom dark brown) strata can be seen at far left. Both layers were laid down in the Cretaceous period (136-64 million years ago). The Lower Greensand, which is slightly eroded here, is a sedimentary formation made up of sandstone. The Wealden is made up of sedimentary layers of clays, silts and sands. In the background, at centre right, chalk cliffs can be seen.
