Slims River Bridge under construction, spanning a two-mile wide glacial silt flat. Original caption: The Slims River Bridge at one stage of construction by Elliott Company. Two and one half miles of relocation for this new 1216 ft. trestle shortens the Army road by 4 miles. This relocation crosses the two-mile-wide glacial silt flat where Slims River empties into Kluane Lake. The 64 19 ft. spans will be made from imported fir camps and stringers, with locally sawed timber for piles, decks, and rails. Section B1. Mile post 1332. August 14, 1943. Photograph by Pinkstaff.
