210512-N-LD903-1028 NORTH PACIFIC OCEAN (May 12, 2021) – Sailors show removed chocks and chains from an F-35B Lightning II, assigned to Marine Medium Tiltrotor Squadron 164 (Reinforced), 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit, aboard the amphibious assault ship USS Makin Island (LHD 8). The Makin Island Amphibious Ready Group and the 15th MEU are conducting routine operations in the 3rd Fleet area of operations.
