The event is an annual worldwide event dedicated to celebrating those nurses for their attaining specialized certification as a means to ensure high standards of patient care and to promote continuing excellence in the nursing profession. Mattson, a Idaho Fall, Idaho native and Bonneville High School 2004 graduate, is also adding to her credentials. She was selected on March 10, 2019, for the Navy's Perioperative Nurse Training Program, a highly sought-after and challenging assignment - and nursing specialty - to prepare a registered nurse like Mattson to work in both inpatient and outpatient settings providing highly technical and critical patient-centered care to those in need
