Arrowslit (crosslet loophole with fishtails) in E wall of the South Gateway barbican (c 1306) of Beaumaris Castle, Anglesey.
Arrow slit (crosslet loophole with fishtails) in E wall of barbican (c 1306) before the South Gateway of the inner ward of Beaumaris Castle featuring a coarse-grained pebbly sandstone. Arrows could be fired from inside the barbican at attackers who had breached the outer defences to gain access to the outer ward, the 'killing ground' between the inner & outer concentric walls designed by Master James of St George for Edward I.
