There he spent four years, mostly in Paris, giving histime largely to the study of surgery under the direction of the mostskilful surgeons of Europe. On his return home he began the prac-tice of medicine in Hartford. Dr. Grants thorough training and hisskill in surgery very soon gave him a prominent position in tlie medi-cal profession.
