The leaves are large, dark green and glossy, and cover the tree with a luxuriant mass of verdure. See cut page 39. $ *var. Hlintingcloni. Huntingdon Elm. Of very erect habit, and rapid, vigorous growth. Bark clean and smooth. One of the finest Elms for any purpose. $ var. pendula. Scotch Weeping Elm. A vigorous, graceful weeping tree. Branches sometimes marked with a persistent, horizontal growth, and again; growing perpendictdarly downwards. Foliage large and massive. $ var. pjrainidalis de Danipierre. Dampierre's Pyramidal Elm. An elegant, pyramidal growing variety. $ var. rug'OSa pendula. Rough-leaved Weeping Elm. A fine, pen- dulous variety, with large, rough leaves. $ var. SUj)erl>a, Blandfoed Elm. A noble tree, of large size and quick growth. Foliage large and dark green; bark smooth and grayish. Highly ornamental. $ var, Stricta. {Oxoniense.)
