The white rump and brilliant red breast makes this bird unmistakable. The Bullfinch is probably one of the most striking and prettiest finches. Unfortunately it suffers greatly from mans persecution this species feeds on young buds of fruit trees. This destructive behaviour makes it a legitimate target for all fruit growers who are aloud to destroy large numbers every year by shooting and trapping. I photographed this superb adult male in a small wood in a large reserve in Rufford Lancashire
