He was elected treasurer of Conference in 1871 and served until 1888. He alsoacted as assistant secretary for twenty-six years, from 1865 to 1801. He also servedon the Executive Board two terms and b^- virtue of his office was president of theBoard. Uncle John P. Kitt, as he is familiarly known by those who are delightedto greet his presence at each succeeding Conference session, has certainly been loyalto and zealous in his churchs interests. THOMAS JOHN Was born in Jackson township, Hunt-ington county, Ind., May 11, 1855. Hemoved with his mother to Kosciuskocount3% Ind., in September, 1866. Hewas married to Alice Swihart, May 18,1876. They are the parents of threechildren, the eldest a daughter, Edith,was taken across the mystic River inher infancy. Mable Pearl Dunbar andLewis J., a daughter and son, still sur-vive. Brother John united with thePleasant Grove Christian church inthe year 1889, under the ministry ofRev. R. L. Amber. He was superin-tendent of the Pleasant Grove SundaySchool for eight years. He served astreasurer of the Eel River Conferenceseven j^ears. Is at present president ofthe North Manchester district of theEel River Christian Conference Sun-day School Association.
