Deployments will always be made upon linesparallel, and lines perpendicular to the line of battle ;consequently, if the head of the column be near theline of battle, the colonel will commence by establish-ing the direction of the column perpendicularly tothat line, if it be not already so, by one of the meansindicated, No. 244 and following, or No. 307 and fol-lowing.
