Rocky landscape on Jar Island, Vansittart Bay, Western Australia

Geologists tell us that when the Kimberley land mass collided with the Australian continent roughly 1800 million years ago the "welding" process caused a great deal of folding and buckling of the sedimentary sandstone. This tortured rock is amply evident on Jar Island in Vansittart Bay, Western Australia.
