Frank Hagen, who has been home fighting the grip, is again on the job. After making a stiff fight, Miss Clara Burkhardt, of the city office of Poehl- mann Bros. Co., has been obliged to submit to an attack of grip. Owing to the death last week of both of her grandfathers, Miss Kath- erine Grages, bookkeeper for Zech & Mann, is absent from the office this week. Visitors. Members of the trade were visited this week by Robert Dunkelberger, of P. Boyle & Co., Galien, Mich. The first Monday of the year found Roy F. Wilcox, of J. F. Wilcox & Sons, Council Bluffs, la., in Chicago for a flying visit. A. J. StaheUn, of Bedford, Mich., was a visitor on the market this week. NEWABK, N. J. The Market. Business kept up well during the week following Christmas. There was a considerable call for flowers for va- rious New Year's events, some of the stores having large orders for decora- tions. There has been much funeral work during the last ten days. All Newark florists are optimistic. Now that the holidays are past, there will be a round of social events until Lent. While only a small part of these will be big affairs, there will be quite a demand for decorations. The price of flowers has kept up well for several weeks. Many persons have purchased plants, instead of cut flow- ers, because of this. Carnations are scarce. At one time red carnations cost 15 cents each at wholesale and roses c
