Government officials oversee the Spruce Cut-up Mill in Vancouver, Washington as part of their efforts to produce spruce for the government. The mill was erected in a record-breaking 45 days at a cost of $250,000. Maj. John B. Reardon leads 900 spruce laborers, while Lt. Henry Dickinson supervises the technical work. Lt. Lawrence serves as Adjutant, and Capt. Goss is the Assistant General Manager. The image was censored and released on March 7, 1918, by the War College Division.
