Is a blacksmith at middle of the town. Livesin the house built by Amos Bennett. Nathan F. Newell^ — Nathan—m. Emily B.,dr. of Luke Harris. Has lived in Mass., N. Y., and111., and now resides in East Swansey. Is a black-smith and machinist. Had Edgar L., b. July 26,1750, m. F. E. Fisher ; Leonard A., b. Feb. 12, 1858,m. N. I. Lewis; Emma F., b. Jan. 30, 1862, L. Lane. He d. John Newell was a shingle-maker from NewSalem. Came to town about 1830; often lived inshanties in the woods ; had a home for some years withDavid Buffum; was somewhat cranky, and was agreat lover of old cider. The spiritual afflatus in_duced by its immoderate use caused him to preach 452 HISTORY OF THE by the wayside by night and by day. He spoke of garments dipped in blood, of the thunders ofMount Sinai, and of the wonders of the transit ofVenus. He died 1865. Livedon the Jona. Thurber farm. Sold to Joseph N. Taft. NORWOOD. Francis JVorzvood, blacksmith, and f. s. on L. 8,R. II. His house was near the big rock on thepresent Winchester road, and on the old road firstlaid through the town.
