Berlin ü Government Building next to Spree river houses library & parliamentary archives & pedestrian bridge Marie-Elisabeth-Lüders-Haus, completed 2003 was designed by architect Stephan Braunfels and named after German politician women's rights activist Marie Elisabeth Lüders. The Marie-Elisabeth-Lüders-Haus together with the Paul-Löbe-Haus and the Federal Chancellery form represent a symbolic bridging of the once separate East and West Berlin. The Marie-Elisabeth-Lüders-steg pedestrian bridge over the river Spree connects the Marie-Elisabeth-Lüders-Haus with the Paul-Löbe-Haus. The architects called it a ‘jump over the Spree’. The Marie-Elisabeth-Lüders-Haus houses the scientific service center with scientific services, the parliamentary library, the parliamentary archive, the press documentation and the subject and speech register
