The Womans Christian Temperance Unions THE Womans Christian Temperance Union of Waynesburg now consists of three distinct organizations: namely, the Womans, Frances Willards and Ys. The oldest was organized in 1881. Mrs. Harriet VV. Sayers, wife ofour venerable townsman, Ezra M. Sayers, Esq., was the first president. She was a born leader, and gave suchintelligent effort, such unselfish devotion and consecrated zeal to the cause of temperance that even yet her worksdo follow her. Among the charter members who wrought so nobly with President Sayers, especially along the lice ofremonstrance against the granting of license, we find these names on an old file of minutes: Mrs. Nancy andSabina Hays, Mrs. Waddell, Mrs. Lewis Day and daughter Elizabeth, Mrs. Elizabeth Linsey Crawford, Wilson, Mrs. Prof. Scott, Mrs. R. W. Dougan, the Misses Belle Braden, Tillie Hays and Alice Dr. Jane Teagarden, who was ably assisted by her father, Isaac Teagarden, Esq. The first Greene
