J., hasachieved a reputation second to that of no other sec-tion of the country, one of the largest breweries in. this vicinity being that known as the Palisade Brew-ery, which was erected in 1865, and until 1871 wascarried on by the firm of Peter & Brock, and fromthat time until 1875 by Peter & Hexamer. In thatyear Mr. Peter became sole proprietor, and greatlyenlarged the facilities and capacity of the brewery,and introduced all the new improvements and ap-pliances that have recently been brought into use inthe production of lager beer. The premises cover ablock of ground on which are erected a number ofsubstantial brick buildings of various dimensions, allof which are in use to supply the large demands fromNew York and the surrounding cities and towns, asthe superior quality of the beer manufactured by is generally recognized by dealers and con-sumers as being among the best, both as regardspurity and health-giving qualities, of any made inthe United States.
