The State Trust Co. of Rutland was organized June 3,capital of $100,000, and does a general banking business,Clement, president; John N. Woodfin, treasurer, and O. treasurer. Educational. 1881, with awith CharlesHarrison, as- Under an Act of the Legislature of Vermont in 1841, a union districtwas formed in the village of Rutland by the consent of the four districts, and. (The Rutland High School.) on the 6th of April, 1855, at a public meeting of the districts, the union wasconsummated, and soon after a high school was established. This organiza-tion was in successful operation during a period of twelve years. But to givegreater unity and efficiency to the school system, a vote was passed at a specialmeeting of the legal voters of the village, held February 20, 1867, wherebyall the school districts in the village were consolidated into one district, to becalled the Rutland Graded School District, which vote was legaHzed by theLegislature, March 28, 1867, and on the 9th day of April following, at an ad-journed meeting of the legal voters of the village, the organization of theGraded School District was completed by the election of officers. 202 TOWN OF RUTLAND.
