Kings Day in Amsterdam Vondelpark Vondel Park, children sell their cast-off toys, lemonade, cupcakes and play tricks for money.
Vrijmarkt on Kings Day in Amsterdam. Children selling their cast-off toys and clothes they have outgrown in Amsterdam Zuid, the southern posh neighborhood. The Vondel Park traditionally is reserved for children to do business, although many are accompanied by their parents. There are lemonade stands, cupcake sales, challenges and tricks for money. Koningsdag is the one day of the year that sales on the street without a permit are allowed. Queensday became Kingsday for the first time since 122 years in 2014. Queensday, Queen's Day = Koninginnedag and Kingsday, King's Day = Koningsdag. The new king, Willem Alexander changed the date as well: from April 30th to his birthday April 27th.
