A blockhouse on Gold Beach near Graye sur Mer, Normandy
The assault area of "Gold Beach" stretched from la Riviere in the east to the outskirts of Le Hamel in the west, a total distance of 6 kilometres. It was divided approximately equally into two sectors: J (Jig) and K (King). The initial landing, as spearhead of the British XXX Corps was carried out by the 50th Infantery Division.
