Frog tadpole. Light micrograph of a longitudinal section parallel to the body of the tadpole of a frog (Rana temporaria). The tail is at left and the head and body are at right. The head shows the central hind-brain and the two circles either side of this are the auditory capsules. The anterior cardinal vein can be seen above the lower auditory capsule. The eyes and olfactory pits are not seen in this section. Magnification: x14 when printed at 10 centimetres across.
