Spacelab-J frog experiment. US astronaut handling an adult female frog in the incubator used in the frog embryology experiment on the Space Shuttle Endeavour's 'Spacelab-J' flight. This took place during mission STS-47, 12-20 September 1992. The experiment looked at the effect of microgravity on amphibian development. Eggs produced in space by the female frogs were fertilized. Half were incubated in microgravity, while the other half were incubated in a centrifuge, spun to simulate normal gravity. Spacelab-J was a joint venture between NASA and the Japanese space agency NASDA, and included 43 science experiments.
