Around the canopies open several graves arcosolium and polysomes, but also tombs carved into the bedrock on the floor. Based on comparisons to date the Hypogeum is dated to the late imperial period, no doubt in full fourth century. The cave is located on private land and the owner shall take them into care and keeping the site open to visitors free of charge by anyone in the day. The site was also the location of a famous episode of the television series Inspector Montalbano and in particular in the episode, The dog Terracotta.
