Thesuns warm rays tempered thecool breezes of the morning, andcaused everyone to feel glad thatthey were here to enjoy it. Thiideal Sacramento spring dayadded not a little to the claim sooften made for this, the best partof the year, by the people of ourfair Capital City. The streetsand avenues were shaded by wide-spreading, walnut and elmtrees; the garden around the residences were clothed with awealth of vari-colored and fragrant tlowers. Magnolia trees inbloom, fan palms and tropical plants growing in the openair, besides the hardier plants of the north, formed a pleasingcombination which demonstrated more than volumes of tabu-lations the great possibility of this soil and climate. The view from the grand stand completely tilled the idealof a California scene. In the foreground were green fieldsbordered by luxuriant orchards and thrifty vineyards, beyondthese were lines of cottonwood and sycamore
