Back brown, sides silvery, belly white ; a black band along each side, from tlie h'ead to the lower lobe of the caudal, where it bends down at an angle; this band as broad as or a little narrower than the silvery space separating it from tlie brown of the hark ; tins white, base of anal sometimes dotted \\ ith black.
