The mysterious Nazca lines form a monkey in the desert of southern Peru. Other animals and geometric shapes are best seen from the air. Anthropologists believe the Nazca culture that created them began around 100 and flourished from 1 to 700. They were made with light-colored sand when the top foot of rock was removed by an ancient culture.
