Concourse & escalators linking the original building with new annexe of the National Museum of Singapore, amalgamating Classicism & Modernism
The National Museum of Singapore is the oldest museum in Singapore, dating back to 1849 and was officially opened on 12 October 1887 to mark the Golden Jubilee of Queen Victoria. Gazetted as a national monument on 14 February 1992, it was designed in Neo-Palladian and Renaissance style. The building underwent an extensive three & a half years redevelopment and was officially reopened in 7 December 2006. It is dedicated to the history of Singapore, with a permanent gallery space known as the Singapore History Gallery.
