Everybody now is predicting an early spring and the seedsmen especially are ready for it. But we are not out of the woods yet; several blizzards are on the weather prophet's program. It is only a week ago that we were shiver- ing in zero temperature. The transi- tion is too sudden to last. The cut flower market is flooded with roses, the last three sunny days bringing in the blooms, and shipments are growing daily. Prices have fallen. Lent is here to add to the depression and the holiday Thursday will com- plete the problems of the present week. The only shortage of the last week was in American Beauties. Prices for these were strong in a bear market. Nothing else, not even orchids, felt an uplift. Violets suffered a big fiijump and the street merchants and the de- partment stores had a jubilee. The surplus was enormous and the store demand light. A few specials in bunches of 100 brought 40 cents. There We Guarantee Satisfaction.
