Dambulla, Sri Lanka - 11 February 2014 Dambulla cave temple, also known as the Golden Temple of Dambulla is a World Heritage Site in Sri Lanka, situated in the central part of the country. It dates back to the first century BCE. At ground level, the temple is dominated by the huge Golden Buddha. But it is also famous for its cave temples, which can be reached by a lung-shattering climb up several hundred steps in stupefying tropical heat. But if you turn your back on the temple after this climb and look over the cliff you have just ascended, this is the view you are rewarded with.
