In the process of purification,no acids, alkalies, or other chemicals are employed, and no injurious ailditions of any kind are-made to the natural product. The result is a semi-solid, translucent substance, with a faintodor,an unctuous feel and a slightly tarry taste. Cosmoline [Unguentum Pelrolei] melts at about lOOO Pah.
