The Sprint ST’s 955cc liquid-cooled three-cylinder six-speed engine is fuel-injected, naturally, and tuned for a well-rounded and seamless power delivery. A great deal of the ST’s charm emanates from its distinctive, soulful and ever-willing power unit. And with a peak power output of 120PS (118bhp) at 9,100 rpm it’s exhilarating in equal measure. The twin-spar aluminium frame and single-sided swingarm also play a major part in the ST’s appeal. As do the 43mm forks (adjustable for spring preload) and rear monoshock (adjustable for spring preload and rebound damping) as they ensure measured, reassuring handling whether two-up and fully loaded, or flying a solo sporting mission. Add powerful, four-piston brakes up front and the ST’s chassis provides a remarkable platform for a hugely fun, yet useful, usable, bike. The extra details Triumph has invested in also make a difference; the two-position exhaust silencer can be fixed high, improving ground clearance for hard cornering, or low to allow room for hard or soft luggage. The colour-matched hard luggage (available as an optional extra), designed, tested and developed alongside the original machine, is available via any Triumph dealer as are other practical accessories such as a touring screen, heated grips and alarm/immobiliser. With three colour options – Aston Green, Caspian Blue and Aluminium Silver – the Sprint ST remains the shrewd choice of any rider looking for a versatile, all-round motorcycle.
