Fireplace at Eltham Palace, London, 1999. Eltham Palace was founded as a medieval royal palace, and its ruins were converted into a private house in the 1930s. The electric one-bar fire in its Art Deco surround in Stephen Courtauld's bedroom was a novelty when it was fitted.
