XVI has attacked Berlin and other German industrial cities with 4000 lb. and other bombs. It is also used by Coastal Command for photographic reconnaissance. The pressure cabin is designed so that it will not raise the air pressure above that experienced in a normal operational flight. Sea level pressure would be dangerous in a flight over enemy territory for if the cabin should be pierced by flak or a fighter's bullet the suddun reduction of pressure might burst the ear drums or injure the lungs of the crew.
