Vietnam Veterans of B Company, 7th Cavalry, who fought in the Battle of Ia Drang, and battles afterwards, read the names of their war dead during a memorial ceremony. Jack Zallen, who was in the cutoff platoon during the battle at LX Xray, is seated at center. Billy Smith, right, was a replacement after the battle and he fought in the Bon Song plain. Smith said one time his shirt was torn to shreds by bullets that passed over him during a battle in a cemetery that left the Cavalrymen pinned down.
