It is a strong and rapid grower,attaining a height of twenty-five feet with beautiful fern-likelaciniated foliage and literally covered with a blaze of fiery cardinalred flowers from midsummer to frost. The flowers are about 1inch in diameter and are borne in clusters five to seven bloomseach. Like all Ipomoeas it delights in a warm, sunny situation andgood, rich soil. The seed should be soaked in water a few hoursbefore sowing and not planted outside until about Mayfirst ,Pkt., 25 seeds, 15c; 2 pkts. for 25c; 5 pkts. for 50c. ASTER, Mammoth Non-Lateral Branching 4014. CALCEOLARIA, Cotswold Hybrid. ^ This cross is arace bearing flowers considerably larger than those of C. Clibrani,but of rounded rather than elongated shape, and with a colorrange running through a series of delightful shades from creamy-white, clear lemon, yellow, and pure gold, to fight and deep bronzeand brown, while in many cases the elegant flowers are beautifullyand rightly spotted with rich colors, as in the herbaceous habit the new hybrid is similar to C. Clibrani, and the plantsare about 2)4. ft- high. Continuity of flowering is a great point infavor of the hybrid, and if fading flowers are regularly removed, theflowering period may be extended quite easily from April to Sep-tember, and during that period the new spikes that arise regularlyfrom the base will keep the specimens fully furnished with effectiveflowers.
