Trevi Fountain 1950s. A fountain located at Piazza di Trevi in central Rome. Anita Ekberg became famous for her bath in the fountain in the film La dolce vita. A woman is seen throwing a coin into the fountain as it should be done. She throws with her right hand over her left shoulder. There are different theories about the effect of throwing coins into the fountain and how many coins to throw. According to the origin legend, however, if you toss a coin, you are guaranteed to return to Rome. Conard ref 519
