Simply put man in Maluku Tenggara is conceived as a combination of two elements mentioned constitution, connected to the body and identity, 'own' a person, often compared to the soul or spirit, and in many islands 'shadow'. The belief is that the body, leaving the dead in life, decays and the "shadow" of the dead will survive. In order to be able to communicate with the 'shadow', the remaining family members left until the beginning of the twentieth century cut a wooden frame.
