Silos having a capacity of500 tons hold a large part of the feed for the stockand a 15 horse power engine and 20 horse powerboiler supply power to run the machinery and steamand hot water to sterilize and keep clean and sweetall dairy utensils. The milk of the herd of 50 purebred registered Jerseys is separated by a DeLavalSeparator and the cream after being sterilized andcooled is shipped in jacketed cans to WashingtonCity. Mr. Pancoast also buys and separates the milkof a number of his farm neighbors and thus enablesthem to share in the advantages of dairying. The. separated milk is fed to a herd of Berkshire hogs ofthe finest breeding. For these hogs and for his Jer-sey cattle Mr. Pancoast has secured a reputation andis building up a fine business selling the young ani-mals all over the South. The farm is situate in afine section of T^oudoun county, one of the most fer-tile counties in the State, and is producing fine cropsand gradually growing in fertility from the applica-tion of the manure from the large quantity of liveanimals kept upon it. We give views of the outsideand inside of the cattle barn and of a few of thechoice Jersey cows showing their fine udder develop-ment. SOUTHWEST VIRGINIA FAIR, RADFORD, VA. At this fair last month there was a fine exhibit ofpure bred cattle frim the breeders of Southwest Vir-ginia. The classes shown were Short Horns, Here-fords and Polled Angus.
