Mark Abrahams, editor of the Annals of Improbable Research, and organiser of the Ig Nobel Prizes (Igs), about to be hit by a falling coconut. The Igs are awarded each year to scientists whose research \cannot or should not be reproduced\". The Prizes are awarded at a ceremony at Harvard University, USA. The prizes have been awarded since 1991. The coconut is a reference to the 2001 Ig Nobel Prize for Medicine winner Peter Barss, who published a report in 1984 indicating that injuries due to falling coconuts were responsible for or hospital admissions at a hospital in Papua New Guinea. Photographed in 2002."
