Landmannalaugar. It is known for its natural geothermal hot springs and surrounding landscape.

Landmannalaugar ("The people's pools") is a wast area of stunning beauty in Iceland's Southern Highlands. This unique geological marvel lies by the edge of the raven-black Laugahraun lava field and is flanked by windswept rhyolite mountains whose vibrant shades of red, purple and pink, constantly change in keeping with the movement of the sun. Primarily known for the natural geothermal baths from which the area derives its name, Landmannalaugar has long been an oasis where tired travellers have found a recuperating shelter in soothing warm waters after hard and tiresome excursions. The area marks the northern end of the Laugavegur, one of Iceland's most popular hiking trails, but it is also home to many other notable trails, including the path onto Mt. Brennisteinsalda ("Sulphur Wave"), and the trail up the Bláhnjúkur ("Blue Peak") volcano, whose summit allows for a sweeping view of five glaciers on clear days. Multiple operators run daily tours to Landmannalaugar from mid-June to mid-September, during which time The Icelandic Touring Association operates a small shop there, as well as three camp sites and a mountain hut with sleeping bag accommodation for up to 80 visitors.
