A thorough musicianhimself, music was his hobby. He trained a splendid choir at Wea andat Paola. He was an excellent organist and a very creditable performeron the flute and violin. After leaving Paola he went to Boulder, Colorado, again engaged inMissionary service, but on account of the continuous strain of it, theBishop of Denver retired him as Chaplain of a Denver hospital, but helater returned to Kansas and was active in the Wichita Diocese for anumber of years and finally was again appointed Chaplain of a hospitalin Wichita.
