Marigolds, zinnias, snapdragons, ruliruin lilies, delphiniums, eosnios and iiydrangeas help to make variety. The growers report that carnations are all planted and coming along nicely. Mums are also in splendid shape. Various Notes. Victor Carwardine says that counter trade is good for this time of year. Funeral orders are abundant and keep the surplus flowers cleaned uji. Kobert Hawkins has l)een rushed with funeral work for the last few days. He designed a number of pieces for the funeral of Mrs. Wheeler, wife of Jutlge Wheeler. .lames E. Beach also had a number of lloral <lesigns for the Wheeler funeral, the principal one being a casket blanket of pink roses. Mr. Beach is spending his vacation at Walnut Beach. The asters and gladioli are off crop at these green- houses at the present time. Carnations are all planted and doing well and mums are coming along in good shape. The pansy croji is planted. .loe Ventrilla, who has Leen one of Mr. Beach's heaii growers for some time, in- tends to sail for Italy Sejjtember 10. He has invested in property in Italy and in- tends to start in the florists' business for himself when he reaches there. One of the other growers will accompany him.
