The White-crowned lpwing is a common bird of the waterways and permanent waters of Eastern and Southern Africa. The large vivd yellow is a clear sign of a mature bird and with the carpal spur they will readily defend their nesting territory close to water. They are noisy and aggressive mambers of the Plover family
