The Fleischman Floral Co. estab- lished a record St. Valentine's day, ac- cording to Edwin Mallinson. Mr. Mal- linson worked for many days before St. Valentine's day on novelties for his windows and the longest time that any one item stayed in the window was fifteen minutes, which goes to show that a good, attractive window display catches the eye of the passer-by. As soon as one novelty came out of the window, sold, another went in. This kept up all day and it was necessary to add extra help to handle the orders. The Ove Gnatt Co., of La Porte, Ind., is showing its line of prepared foliage, artificial flowers, baskets, etc., at room 589 in the Palmer House. George Hus- mann is in charge. A few days before St. Valentine's day there appeared in the window of every Western Union telegraph office a large red heart in a frame, which was a great boost to the F. T. D. The word- ing started like tliis: '' Send your valen- tine by wire, whether it be flowers, candy or ; Winterson's Seed Store, now operated by A. Henderson & Co., has become port of first call for trade visitors. It has been suggested that a clubroom be opened on the mezzanine floor, so that the traveling salesmen need not be in- convenienced by the store's customers. As an indication of the difference in business this year and last, the E. C. Amling Co. reports that the total of its sales to February 13 equals the sales for all of
