Capsule containing 50mg of nitrofurantoin, an antibiotic. The kidneys filter nitrofurantoin out of the blood and into the urine. This means it is particularly suited to treating bacterial infections in the urinary tract. It functions by damaging the genetic material (DNA) of the bacterial cells, causing their death and thus controlling the infection.
