English novelist Charles Dickens (1837–1870) published his novel David Copperfield  detailing his adventures in his journey from infancy to maturity. It was first published as a serial in 1849–50, and as a book in 1850. The illustrator was Hablot Browne. Browne's pseudonym was "Phiz"; Dickens' was "Boz." Note the name"Phiz" underneath this illustration of Browne that has caption "I am hospitably received by Mr. Peggoty."
