Gibraltar - 2nd October 2015 - Lincoln Red Imps versus Lynx had been seen from the kick-off as a battle for the top. Lincoln needed to emulate Europa FC, who last week beat Lynx 2-1, to keep their position at the top of the league. Lynx for their part needed to show that their position 4th from the bottom was not merited. With the rain pouring down as the match kicked off Lynx went out with all guns blazing, pinning Lincoln back and making it difficult for the league champions to take control of the midfield, as they usually do. With a high defensive line, Lynx kept Lincoln within their half for the first quarter of an hour. Inching forward, and with constant forays into the penalty area, Lynx could not finish with Roy Chipolina demonstrating why he is still one of Gibraltar's best defenders. Lynx's lack of striking power up front - one of the key factors which has seen them fall behind in other key matches - once again paved the way for them to fall behind. Unable to make their constant pressure up front work for them, Lynx were caught out by a quick counter attack by Lincoln, whose defence remained solid. Lee Casciaro combined with Liam Walker to put the ball into the back of the net for the first goal, providing the first warning bells that Lincoln were a constant threat even when pinned back. Lincoln Red Imps waited until the second half to show why they were the league champions. Pinned back throughout most of the first half, Lincoln came into the second half as if the iron had been thrown at them. Darting runs down the flanks, saw Casciario, Cabrera, Walker and Lopes breaking up Lynx's defence leading to the second goal. Liam Walker, who had been threatening to score from the start of the second half striuck the ball past Fraiz with a superb shot. Lopes who had not been in the initial eleven came on only after Ryan Casciaro was substituted in the first half due to an injury.
