The interest which now invests theplace, however, is occasioned by the reference to it in Ramona as the residence of Father Gaspara and the account of Alessandro and^f^/ Ramona signing there themarriage record. Modern San Diego is situated on the bay shore twoor three miles below Old Town. The residence portionof the city lies upon the hills overlooking the beautifulsweep of bay and ocean, while the business section islocated on the lower ground reaching down toward thewater.
